Homemade Berry Jam w/Honey

May 17, 2026

I shall consider this a project for categories sake, bc idk if I'll b doing hella recipeies jajaja

the ingreidents

I purchased two cases of blackberries because they were on sale and I like to add a few berries to my freak-ass dog's breakfast :) BUT !! she had some type of reaction I am assuming to the berries, bc she had diareha soooo bad after that breakfast, so I decided to no longer risk it.

So at that point I had two cases of ripe berries that I do not enjoy the texture of eating. Why not try to turn them into something I might enjoy !

I was legit just gonna mash em up and spread them on some toast, but w/two cases i thought I ought to attempt something w a lil more longetivity: jam.

o yes and also salt and lemon

I used honey bc after I mashed my berries I realized I had no granulated sugar and you should NOT use powdered sugar in its place !!!

INGREDIENTS

(not a science, I'm just listing exactly what i used)

2 small-ish cases of blackberries

half a lemon worth of lemon juice

honey (eye-balled, idk)

lil salt

RECIPIE STEPS

  1. Had super fun mashing the berries in my mortar n' pestal. Just got it to a fine-enought paste.

  2. Mixed all ingredients together in a bowl. Add honey to preference (but apparently not too much bc you have to consider the water in it, as it will affect the consistancy of the jam!)

  3. Bring to a boil, then let simmer for 25 or so minutes, at least until the mixture begins to thicken !!

  4. Put in a jar/container, let cool, and enjoy !

Should b stored in an airtight container aaaaand refridgerated.

I initally googled a 'berry jam recipe' and was using this one for reference, but quickly discovered I did not have any sugar ! So I then used this one for reference. Like I said tho, I did not really measure anything. I know I used half a lemon of juice and apprx. 2 cases of berries ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ bc several had alreayd been eaten jajajahahahaah but otherwise, everything was kinda added til it felt right idk

I think it turned out pretty good ! Rather honey heavy in terms of taste. Next time I'd probably do both honey & sugar, and just balance how sweet I'd want it between the two.

on toast
